Welcome to the capital city of Kansas!
I would personally like to thank you for joining us in Topeka for the Blizzard Bash. The capital city is on the move, offering non-stop family fun as well as a solid framework rich in history and politics.
Venturing around Topeka, you will quickly recognize the warm, inviting nature of our community. Topeka is a unique place in that we are a leader in business and politics, while at the same time understand the importance of quality of life for our citizens and visitors. We look forward to dazzling you with new adventures, good food and great times to ensure we are always on your short list for future events.
While in the capital city, we encourage you to explore and enjoy all the city has to offer. Test your fear of heights by climbing 296 steps to the top of the Kansas State Capitol, get in touch with your artistic side as you shop in the ever-popular NOTO Arts District, catch dinner and a show at one of our many theaters, or if you are feeling really adventurous, go zip-lining at Trampo Lazer Rockball Park - Topeka's newest attraction.
Whether it's before, during or after the event, we hope you find time to enjoy our many
fine restaurants. If you're looking for fine dining with a stellar menu to match, try
The Row House. With their food plucked right off the vine from their garden, you're
sure to experience the freshest foods available. Or if you're craving a mouthwatering
burger stop by The Pad. Opened in 1961 and run by the same family for three
generations. They have stood the test of time and offer an amazing variety of foods.
Also enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine from Margarita's Jalisco.
Below is a list of activities that will take place around your stay. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our offices at 785-234-1030, stop in at our visitor center at 618 S. Wil Maring and Robert Bowlin in Concert
Wil Maring and virtuoso guitarist and fiddler Robert Bowlin have been recently combining talents to create beautiful original acoustic music which straddles the fence between bluegrass, folk and country music. Wil's beautiful airy vocal style and heartfelt lyrics have raised the eyebrows of the acoustic music world in recent years and Robert, a two-time National Fingerpicking and Flatpicking Guitar contest winner, has been a band member with legendary artists like Bill Monroe, Maura O Connell, Kathy Mattea, the Osborne Brothers, and many more. Their music will leave audiences spellbound long after the show is over. (www.wilmaring.com)
Climb to the top of the Kansas Statehouse dome and step outside. Topeka is home to the only Capitol with a dome tour that goes all the way up! Free guided tours of the building and the dome are offered every weekday. Tour the building on a self-guided adventure on Saturdays.
Venture off the beaten path and dine like a local at some of the most talked about eateries in town! Below are our five favorites, but be sure to visit our restaurant guide for more suggestions.
